With the development of the China’s economy, the investment of China in other countries become more, especially in the Africa countries. China increases the investment in Africa. For one side, it plans to help the development of local economy and people’s life. For the other side, China wants to improve the relationship with Africa. In this paper, there will be a discussion of similarities and differences of two passages about the investment in Africa. These two passages are “Chinese Investments in Africa: A Labour Perspective” written by Anthony Yaw Baah and Herbert Jauch and “China in Africa: An Evaluation of Chinese Investment” written by Thompson Ayodele and Olusegun Sotola.

The theme of the two texts is the same.  Both of the texts talk about the investment of China in Africa. In “China in Africa: An Evaluation of Chinese Investment”, it talks the investment of china in Africa starting from the historical evolvement, then China re-emergence in Africa, then the key drivers of the engagement, the investment patterns in Africa, what Africa has gained, balance of trade, gainers and losers and lesson on development.Thompson Ayodele& Olusegun Sotola2014). In “Chinese Investments in Africa: A Labor Perspective”, the investment of China in Africa is illustrated as follows. Thompson and Olusegun talk about the Sino-African aid, trade and investment first, then the trade between China and Africa and impact and perceptions of Sino-Africa relations (Anthony Yaw Baah& Herbert Jauch, 2009). Both of the texts talk about the investment of China in Africa. Although there may be some differences in the concept, the thesis of the two texts is the same.

Furthermore, both of the texts talk about the reasons for China to invest in Africa. According the two texts, the reasons for China to invest in Africa are as follows. First, China needs crude oil to support the industry development and economy development (Thompson Ayodele and Olusegun Sotola, 2014). Second, China needs Africa to support its position in the international world. Third, with the development of Africa, China wants to build the relationship with Africa. Africa has a lot of production that is short for China. And China also can provide Africa some productions that they lack. They want to build the strong relationship between the two countries through the exchanging of the goods (Anthony Yaw Baah& Herbert Jauch, 2009).

Moreover, both of the texts talk about the influences of China’s investment in Africa. In “Chinese Investments in Africa: A Labour Perspective”, it says the investment from China has helped the local economy development. Because of the Chinese companies coming, they provide the local people with skill training and technology teaching, which help the local people, improve their personal skills and living standard (Anthony Yaw Baah& Herbert Jauch, 2009). China’s investment promotes the development of Africa. In “China in Africa: An Evaluation of Chinese Investment”, it says China’s investment promotes the development of economy in Africa. Chinese government imposes no political conditions on African governments (Thompson Ayodele&Olusegun Sotola2014). Bothe china and the African countries share the equal rights during the cooperation. China’s investment promotes the development of infrastructure in Africa. That is because Chinese companies would like to invest in the fields that western companies do not like to invest, like physical infrastructure, industry and agriculture. So Chinese investment is welcomed in Africa. Except that, Chinese investment also solves the problems in Africa, such as the unemployment, poverty alleviation and so on. They also transfer the technology and expertise to the local people. And china also imports and exports the production from Africa, which promotes the development of product value chain in Africa. There may be some differences between the two texts’ influences. But this is the part of the two texts.
