Law enforcement classifies criminals into two major categories which is the emotional offender and the non- emotional offender the purpose of classifying is to vary the approach to the suspect during interrogation. emotional offenders are usually a first time offender or some one in which their emotions drove them to commit this crime i.e. love, hatred,anger,etc. A good method for interrogating an emotional suspect is showing sympathy. blame society for the action, be friendly buy a coke or cigarettes. The non-emotional suspect is usually a harden criminal has been to jail before and is not intimidated by the police. There are many different ways to approach a non emotional suspect but my two favorites are The narrative method and the hypothetical situation. The narrative method lets the suspect tell his side of the story and then make him repeat it three or four time to make him cover up each lie .
