What is an American?

In general, the term "American" just means that you are from the United States; though to us "Americans" the word has another complex meaning. We define "American" basically as a way of life or as a certain type of mind set.

To be "American", means that you have a "can do" attitude. This means that you are not satisfied with the way that things currently are and you are always looking for ways to better them. American also means that you are always thinking of the future when setting goals. Rather than focus on just a day by day basis, you are always working towards a better tomorrow. Being American means that you are a hard worker because you realize that anything worth having is worth fighting for. The good things in life aren't just handed to you, you have to put in the blood, sweat, and tears to get what you want; it may not be an easy road but as American you know it has to done.

To someone who isn't or hasn't lived here before they see America as the land of opportunity and I feel that's what drives them here. For them, being an American means not having to live in some sort of social or economic cage but instead being able to flourish and have a freedom that may not have accessible to them in their home country.

To sum it all up, to be American is to constantly be in the pursuit of happiness not just for yourself but for your country.

Obviously, a Texan is anyone that resides in Texas; but a true Texan is a total different subject. True Texans take immense pride in their country, state, and government. Texans show the upmost loyal to their republic, with the belief that they could be a self-sufficient land if they wanted to, which they have proved in the past.
