Strengths

• Spartan has well organized organization structure constituting of highly experienced individuals. Paul Saxton, Tom Cob and Liz are experienced ang highly learned individual with experience in the relevant field of operation.

• Each region has its own form of organization constituting an operations manager, purchasing staff manager, financial manager and product sales manager all who report to the general manager.

• The company has a large customer base which can be attributed to the various products of specialization that the company majors in that is industrial and allied segments besides the plywood sheets and wood panels. Products were grouped to seven different categories which are; exterior, interior décor, fastener, construction material, industrial shelving, security and storage.

• Well established distribution centers which as of 2015 were 15 of them all located in various parts of Canada. Further they have been able to conduct various distribution and ordering mechanisms.

• The company is highly profitable with profits amounting to $8.8 million before tax as of 2014.

Weaknesses

• Lack of a proper mechanism to deliver product to their customers without extra cost. This is because the company relied on hired trucks to deliver products.

• Lack of a harmonized system to manage diversified customer base and products. They do not have a proper system where by small orders should be managed from the distribution centers instead of direct order from the company. This results to extra cost.

• Lack of a consistent delivery charge system and policies pertaining pick up orders. We find that at times sales persons could rebate delivery charges depending on various reasons. This tricky because sales individuals would do anything provided they increase the number of sale. The reason being,
