Team Strategy/ Weakness and Strengths

Riordan Manufacturing has assigned the task of creating teams in which a heart valve will begin to enter the production line. This is a new design for the organization, so there are many different options that we can use in the development of successful, working teams. As with any team, good or bad, there will be strengths and weaknesses that need to be recognized and discussed in order to ensure that the teams will work well together. It will not be a surprise when conflict arises, but it will be critical to pinpoint the correct methods to handle such situations. Not only is it important to know the steps to take, but it is equally important to understand the situation and how to handle each occurrence. Even the conflict management strategy will have its own strengths and weaknesses that will be encountered. Recognizing these strengths and weaknesses will create an easier-to-manage situation. There were five methods considered when creating this team. Method # 1 Goals are the building blocks of a successful operation, no matter what the scenario is; therefore, the first method is to have clear expectations of goals. The strength of this method is that it creates the measurement of objects more efficient. This method is not one that will report the relationships of people and their skills in communication. There has got to be delineation of each member of the group because he/she must know his/her responsibility in the group. Also, each member of the group must recognize how each other individual fits into the team. Method # 2 Recognition of the channels of communication is another method considered in the formation of this team. The strengths of this method is that a bond is formed between team members that allows more capacity of knowledge of the situation, task, and steps necessary to TEAM STRATEGY AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT PLAN 3 complete the assigned task with as little conflict as possible. The weakness of this method is that the efficiency of the task and accomplishment can be lacking due to the amount of importance delivered to the respective associations between team members. It is important that there be a developed interaction amongst the group members without an exemption of the group leader. A working environment in which all members recognize the relationship between each other member will allow for the development of a healthy working environment, which is essential for an efficient, smooth completion of any task. Method # 3 Conflict resolution was also looked at in regards to the development of a successful team. The strength of this method is that it can assist in the resolution of problems while allowing the members to learn how to change in order to improve this skill for future interactions. The weakness of this method is that, in a situation without conflict or problems, time/effort/money would be wasted in order to teach this skill to a team that will not need to use it.
