The clinical psychologist Abraham Maslow (1943) addressed that people have different needs, and these needs formed a hierarchy of sequence. Everyone is lurking different level of needs, but the degree of the needs are different at different times. Needs are the main reason for encouraging people to action and motivation. Once the need is met, it is no longer to motive people anymore, and it was substituted for other needs. "The notice is one of a needs ascending process, sequential in nature, whereby one particular class of needs must reach a sufficient level of satisfaction before the next needs level becomes operational" (Rice, 1993, p.153)

In Maslow's hierarchy of needs, it divided into five levels of needs includes physiological needs, safety needs, belonging needs, esteem needs and self-actualization needs. In the following part, it would be explain the each level of needs one by one.

There are five different levels in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs:

This is the most basic needs for human to maintain in their daily life such as clothing, food and housing and transport. These are the four essential requirement of the people. If the fundamental needs are not satisfied, the living of people would appear a problem. In this case, the physiological needs are the most important element to lend an impetus to people motive in the society. Maslow's believed that after the most basic needs is met to maintain the life in the necessary level, others need to be a new motivation. By this time, these satisfied needs are already not to be a motive factor.

Safety needs

In this level, people fear are threatened such as loss property, loss job or sickness etc. For this reason, people have a protection and have their own security needs. According to Maslow, it is a pursuit of security mechanisms, they try to use the sense organs, intelligence or other tools to quest for safety. For example, a retirement fund should be pay to retired worker that can help them to feel a sense of security in the life after retirement. Also, people should buy insurance to protect their life and make a claim for compensation. Of course, when the need to once relatively satisfied, it also to be ceases as a motivator.
