Life Cycle

In this paper, we will be discussing the life cycle and discussing what affects an individual. We will be clarifying three major concepts they will include in what way self-determination influences and dependence affects an individual's ability to successfully deal challenges in each life cycle. In addition, we will discuss how policies and legislation might affect a household during each life cycle. During a life cycle, each individual will go through in his or her life cycle many stages.

The first stage we are going to talk about is self-determination. This starts at birth and goes to roughly 18 months old. During the first 18 months, the child is developing trust, hopefulness, and self-confidence these are taught by their mother and father. For example if there is no trust taught by the parents to the child, then they might grow to be insecurity. This could affect them later in life, if the individuals were properly cared for he or she will be able to make things happen in their lives for themselves. Children learn how to be confident in early elementary they learn this by the choices they make, this help with early problem-solving skills.

The second stage, autonomy vs. shame this occurs around the age of 18 months to about five years old. This stage is when a child will have the chance to gather self-esteem and autonomy. This is where they learn right from wrong. For example, if a child is cared for by a loving family then they will learn how to care for them self with pride. This is the stage that a child starts to experiment with things and begins to play with toys such as cars, army men, and even dolls. They begin to understand things and how they work. If you are not involved with your child in this stage, they can resolve problems such as struggles through social role identification. With this, it can bring an individual frustrated over goals in life and may feel guilt.

The third stage is Industry vs. Inferiority during age 6 to 12 years old. This stage is when learning new skills and understanding with developing the sense of industry. This is also the stage of social development that you learn and need throughout the stage of everybody's life cycle. If an individual experience unanswered thoughts of failure and weakness amongst their peers, they are known to have very serious troubles in conditions of capability and self-esteem during their entire life cycle. As individuals will expand their relationship with school and neighbors during this time of their life cycle parents are still important in their life.
