In the following coursework I will explaining the requirements for two different careers in the social care sector. The first job that I am going to discuss is neonatal nurse. The second job that I am going to do is Gynaecologist.

There are many requirements that needs to be meet to become a neonatal nurse.

Education

Neonatal nurse’s first need to complete a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. To become license registered nurses (RNs), graduates of a BSN program must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for RNs. RNs with a BSN may go on to a master's program to become neonate nurse practitioners. These programs prepare students for working in delivery rooms and caring for neonates. 

Qualification

A neonatal nurse will need 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths and science would be an advantage and a preferred GCSE. A neonatal nurse will needs A levels in subjects such as, science, chemistry, biology, and health and social care related a levels. To be a neonatal nurse, a degree in pre-registration nursing is required; the degree will lead to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). This is usually three years, which then you will receive a bachelor’s degree in nursing practitioner

Initiative

A neonatal nurse need to be use their initiative when it comes change of the baby’s status. This will allow the neonatal nurse to act faster and treat the baby quicker, which will provide better experience for the patient.

Interpersonal skills

Interpersonal skills are the skills that we use daily to communicate and interact. Interpersonal skills will be required to become a neonatal nurse as they will have to work with families and will need to communicate, they have to inform the family of the child about his/ her condition.  

Reliability

They will need to be reliable to work unpredictable hours, as the child can feel ill anytime and anything can happen at any time so they will need to be reliable to work unpredictable hours. The baby can have problems anytime therefore a neonatal has to reliable to be to work unpredicted hours to help the child and support the mother. They will also needs to do a task when they are asked to do so, however they should also express himself/herself if they are unable to do the task.  They will also need to be able to different task that they have been given. They should also be able to express themselves when they are not able to do a task.  

Knowledge/skills

A neonatal nurse will need to have knowledge and skills in nursing practitioners and have knowledge about areas of infants.  A neonatal nurse is also required to have knowledge in respiratory system, dietary needs and know which medicines are given for which treatment.  A neonatal nurse will need to have skills such as, good communication. This will a neonatal nurse to communicate effectively with their patient. They also need to have ability of answering the patient question and able to provide them with advice regarding the baby as well as their health. A neonatal should be able to use technology such as s incubators, ventilators and feeding tubes. They should also be able to handle emotional situations.
