What is mental health?

Mental health accommodates several facets of the overall health, such as emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects our ability of handling challenges, linking to the others, and even making choices. In fact, mental health is just as vitally important as physical health, but sometimes it is overlooked.

What are the characteristics of mentally healthy people?

There are abundance of ways that we can describe mentally healthy people, but I might state that they have three most significant characteristics: they are happy with themselves, comfortable with other people, and able to manage their lives.

Feeling good about themselves, mentally healthy people usually maintain a more positive point of view. They can be pleased with simple, everyday things. Moreover, they accept their own ability deficiency but still have self-respect. We can imply that mentally healthy people really appreciate their lives. In the second place, they are quite more altruistic than the people with mental illness. They feel comfortable building relationships and being a part of a group. Plus, the healthy people usually have a sense of responsibility to fellow human beings. Thus, they are, and feel more connected to the others, comparing to people with mental problems. Last but not least, mentally healthy people also feel as they can control their lives. From my own experience, I think this is the golden key of every successful person in the world: as they are positive and have good relationships because they are mentally healthy, they dare to take risks, and take responsibilities of themselves; they are not easily overwhelmed by their lives. Therefore, we can tell that they meet the demands of life. And since it is one of the most powerful factor toward my future success, I am trying my best to become a more mentally healthy people.
