Free, Yet Not

Democracy comes with freedom, freedom that let everyone express their own thoughts, emotions, opinions, everything. But rationally speaking and as set by the law, freedom is not absolute. Freedom always has its limitations and comes with great responsibility.

As I wanted to express everything in a way that I wanted to, I couldn’t do so, because I have to consider the feelings, beliefs, cultures and norms of the people around me. Just like when we just came here in Canada, I was used to expressing my gratitude with a smile and wanted to do it, but my mother said that I should speak out the word “thank you” because just smiling would be credited as being rude instead of appreciating.

Also as we use our freedom of expression in everything, we should be responsible enough to express the truth itself. In addition to that, we shouldn’t use our freedom of exprI was nurtured with music since ever since I was inside my mothers’ womb, I grew up considering everything as music to my ears. Waking up in the morning with the sound of the wind blowing and banging in the windows, dogs barking at the people passing by and with the loud voices by my grandparents downstairs. Being inspired and motivated by the sound, beat, rhythm, tempo, and lyrics from the music that it became a part of my day to day life.ession as an excuse to express lies and gossips just to hurt other people or achieve something.
