Do you think it is right to take the law into your own hands? Some people think it’s wrong to kill humans, while others think that by killing the bad, it is their ticket to heaven even if it is unlawful. Two Irish brothers Connor and Murphy MacManus set out to do exactly that. The Boondock Saints is a movie about religion, family, and vigilante justice.

After almost killed by Russian mob members, brothers Connor and Murphy become vigilantes working for god. Soon after their best friend David Della Rocco also known as the “funny man” joins them. Connor, Murphy, and Rocco began killing the Russian mob members one by one. When detective Paul Smecker figures out who the vigilantes are and what they are doing he is confused whether to take them in or join them.

In the beginning of the movie Connor and Murphy are at their weekly church mass. The brothers go up to kiss the Jesus statue before they leave while the priest is telling a story. The story is about a woman being brutally stabbed and murdered, and as the assailant walked away everyone watched and did nothing. Afterwards the priest said “We must all fear evil men, but there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men”.

When the brothers are in church the priest has great respect for them. Connor and Murphy are both devoted to church and their religion faithfully. Afterwards the brothers decided to stay overnight in a cell to avoid the press. Later that night Connor and Murphy had something happen to them at the same time called Divine Intervention. The next day they were all over the newspapers, people were calling them “The Saints”.

When the brothers experienced there divine intervention, it was their calling from God saying to kill all of the evil men so that the innocent could prosper. Connor and Murphy decided they were going to listen to God and get rid of all the evil in Boston. To some the MacManus brothers were their religious hero’s, freeing them of all the bad men and evil around them.

Connor and Murphy go through with their first massacre, nine Russian mob syndicates. Afterward they crossed all of their arms around their chests and put pennies over the eyes of the dead and said a prayer. They left one alive to be executed last, Yuri Petrova, the Russian syndicate boss. Connor and Murphy stood behind him with both guns to the back of his head while
