Global Warning

Global warning is a serious worldwide problem. It's when the world is constantly getting warmer. Global Warming is caused mostly by us. It is due to the pollution we emit in the air. Air pollution thickens greenhouse gases. The greenhouse gases warms the ocean temperatures. The warming ocean temperatures create stronger hurricanes. So global warming has a big impact on the weather patterns. The changing weather patterns can produce serious diseases and air borne diseases. Global warming is a serious issue that requires effort to reverse it.

For the past 10 years, I've seen climate change news articles a lot more often, and not once have seen any positive changes or positive talks about it. When I was 15 years old, the day Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on August, 29, 2005, I said that it was caused by global warming. It turned out that I was right when I saw satellite videos of the hurricane and saw that something was not right. The reason why is because there was a temperature increase which causes the build up of stronger hurricanes.

The research that I have done has led me to the conclusion that we are causing global warming, and that most people don't even care about it or know what to do to stop it. Since Hurricane Katrina, I've begun a 10 year study about what we're doing to our planet. So the best way to begin is to learn about the basics.

The first thing I had to learn about is what causes global warming. One of the first things that causes global warming is greenhouse gases.(Greenhouse gases are gaseous constituents of the atmosphere, both natural and anthropogenic, that absorb and emit radiation at specific wavelengths within the spectrum of thermal infrared radiation emitted by the Earth's surface, the atmosphere itself, and by clouds.) The greenhouse gases are thickened by air pollution and traps the sun's heat in the atmosphere.

Today, the American people are starting to show more concern about global warming, and what effect it might have on them. The problem is more people are showing concern, but the U.S government is not showing any concern at all. More people want to buy hybrid cars, want cleaner energy, less pollution, and not wanting to worry about their health.

If the U.S is so concerned about global warming, why haven't we yet gotten around to signing the Kyoto treaty? The Kyoto treaty is an international protocol with the objective of reducing greenhouse gases to prevent drastic climate change. Former President Bush didn't want to reduce oil drilling, because oil drilling means more profit, even though it is threatening our health and environment.

The US government isn't playing any positive role in global warming. Global temperatures have been the worst in the past 9-10 years. CO2 emissions have never
