Video games have evolved and new methods of gaming have been introduced, games are now categorized into various genres and help in the development of a childs’ mental and sometimes physical level aswell.

The specialized games application running is known as gaming or electronic games,it is mostly done on special machines designed for them,and more recently,personal computers are being used to play games on the internet and this activity is called online gaming.A gamer is a person who plays electronic games. The word "gaming" is a synonym for "gambling" although most electronic games today do not involve gambling in any sense.

Gaming over the past few years, has improved a lot. It originated from cards, dice games and similar gambling methods into means of entertainment for people of all ages. PCs , gaming consoles and handheld consoles are the new ways for playing games nowadays. The newest technology available is the motion sensor gaming which is now being used in the top gaming consoles. New research is taking place daily to improve upon the ways people play games to make them more entertaining and fun.

PC gaming has and will always be the most popular method of gaming as it allows all types of games to be played on it including those games which may not be available on other gaming platforms and also the best gaming experience arises by computer gaming. Gaming consoles are the second most popular means of gaming and like computers can be found in almost every household due to the fact that provide a more relaxed environment and different experience for the gaming lovers. The widely used gaming consoles are the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 (PS3), these provide the greatest pleasure of gaming and accordingly have the best games titles available to be played on, and they are not restricted for a niche market rather all types of games for every type of a persons’ need and desires are available for these consoles also they allow games to be played against people around the world, use the internet and watch movies etc. Game playing to pass time and enjoy has always been on the mind of people especially children hence keeping these wants in mind another innovation took place and handheld consoles were developed for those people who travel around and want to play games while on the go. The Nintendo DS and Psp are the iconic figures of the handheld gaming console world and they are amongst the favorite devices of young kids as they could now play games wherever and whenever they want, handheld consoles are also demanded by many adults aswell not just because for the sake of gaming but also as these provide the features to surf the web, listen to stored music and many more. But the most unique and greatest development in the sense of gaming is the motion sensor gaming, this is the method in which a persons’ real time gestures are emulated on the TV via this and is used by Xbox 360 by name of “Kinect” and PS3 also uses this innovative technology.
