War Media

War. What is it to you? Many people have many different positions on this subject. A good amount of the people making their decision on how they feel about war is based off of the media. There are online articles, photographs, movies, books, and many other types of media out there. One has to explore many different types of media if they really want to understand the concept of war, and decide how they feel about it. After my research on this subject, I understand why war is necessary sometimes, but I don’t always agree with it.

The first article I’m writing about is "The Dogs of War, Suffering Like Soldiers" by James Dao. This article talks about PTSD in canines. It talks about how dogs that go to service working for the military can sometimes come home and be completely different dogs. They can be more aggressive, more clingy and timid, or just unable to perform any of the tasks it used to be able to do in the past. Many people see this as a reason as to why dogs should not be used in the military.

The next example are the photographs by Eddie Adams of the Vietnam war. These photographs are very graphic, showing gory content. It shows pictures of children hiding for their lives, of women hiding in water, and soldiers with guns to people’s heads.

The last thing I’m bringing up are the Photographs by Chris Hondros. These photos are very intense, up-close shots. It shows children with guns, children all bloody after their parents were just killed, and men with RPG’s standing in the middle of a city looking as if they are about to shoot it off. This shows the real side of war, what really goes on, rather than what war looks like on “cool” war movies or on television.
