Despite being a secular democracy, India is one of the few countries in which social and religious structures have remained intact and inseparable, and have continued to do so for at least 4000 years despite various invasions, persecutions, colonialisms and political upheavals. Today these intertwined structures form the hallmark of India’s national identity.
