Introduction

The course on Organizational Behaviour constituted of lesson on how people generally do interact within a group especially in an organizational setting. The course constitutes of certain elements that teaches us how can we learn to develop ourselves in an organization and the same time learn some scientific approaches that can be applied to managing people in an organization. Although the course is vast and has provided me lot of insights about the environment at work place, about the types of people, managing people, understanding self, perception and attribution. There are certain specific learnings from the course that have been influential for me and same will be focused on in this learning paper.

Topics covered in this paper:

  1. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
  2. Pygmalion Effect
  3. Motivation Theory (Goal Setting)
  4. Stress

All the topics mentioned above will be covered in the most summarized manner and my learnings about the applicability of the above-mentioned topics in an individual’s life both in and outside an organizational environment has been considered.

  1. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

This is personality assessment instrument that has been for quite some time to assess the personality of individuals so that people can be aware about how they act and feel in different types of situations.

The MBIT personality was taken by all the students in the class during the Organizational behaviour lecture and I personally found it to be very interesting as the test mostly asked questions where you had to answer every question in the truest manner possible, only then you will be able find out what your actual personality type is.

Learnings

At the end of the test are scores were evaluated and each of us got to know our respective personality type. My personality type was Introverted Sensing with Extroverted Thinking (ISTJ).

I was aware that I was an introvert to some extent but this test helped me know exactly what kind of introvert was I. The test enabled me to know the side of my personality that I was not at all aware of, this was a part with extroverted thinking which made me realise that despite on being an introvert I tend to think like extroverts which is sign of open-minded approach as far as thinking is concerned. The test also made me aware that people who fall is this category have massive amount of information stored inside their brain and also remember impressive commands of the facts that they were once aware of, by building upon this information now I will be able in better position in a work environment as I will be more focused on understanding the things rather than trying to store it in my mind.
