Authors That Showed Most Credibility

This article will start with the author that shows the most credibility, than they will be compared with other similar authors that use the same radical method.

The author that shows most credibility is Atul Gawande in "The Cost of Conundrum." The second author that shows most credibility is Megan McArdle in "Lead Us Not into Debt", but not as much as Gawande did. The third author that also shows credibility was Tom Barry in "A Death in Texas" Barry was also the author that showed least amount credibility compared to Gawande, and McArdle.

Gawande shows the most credibility, by using his personal expertise, and research in the article "The Cost of Conundrum". In the Beginning of the article he interviews the local people and a police officer as soon as he arrives at the airport. Showing the readers he travelled to the town of McAllen, and is physically researching the high rising cost of health care.

Gawande also presents his credibility through the article with words like "I am", I traveled and "I spoke to" when he traveled to the Mayo Clinic to see and speak to C.E.O. Denis Cortez. Gawande uses phrases like this thought his article to show his readers that he has constantly traveled and has performed interviews with many people for his article. Right after Gawande mentions that he was accompanying his Colleague as he made rounds to all his patients concluded that the doctor spent about an hour with this patient and all that he did was go over her tests and made adjustments to her medication.

Gawande uses his professional expertise when he scrubs in for surgeries to find out if the doctors of McAllen, Texas are doing anything different then the rest of the medical community in the Unites States. By telling the readers that he is scrubbing in for surgeries he is showing that he is a doctor himself. Gawande makes sure to mentions through the article "I am a Doctor" and he knows a lot about the health care industry. The reasons behind Gawande hinting that he is a doctor is so the reader could try to build a trust connection to what he is writing. Gawande also disclosed a little incident on how he was able to bully another doctor to perform more tests in order to make sure that the patient was going to be ok, and that there was nothing missed on previous tests.

The reasons why Gawande shows research done by him and other credible sources to back up his personal and professional credibility. The way he uses other credible sources is traveling to other clinics around the country and showing the readers the differences of McAllen, Texas and the rest of the country.
