Advance Reservation Period
Advance reservation of berths and seats can be done 90 days in advance excluding the date of journey at the originating station. The advance reservation period at intermediate stations for any particular train would be reckoned with reference to the date on which booking starts at the train originating station. However Advance reservation by some Inter City Express trains can be done 10days in advance and 30 days in advance

You can board the train with RAC ticket. You will be provided with seating accommodation initially and allotted a berth in case of any passenger not turning up the train .
I you are holding a waitlisted ticket check the status of your ticket before boarding the train. If the Wait Listed ticket has not been confirmed or updated to RAC, please do not board the reserve coaches. In case you do, you will be fined and detained.
