There might be many reasons why securities and investment banking business male oriented and dominated.

  • Working condition might be tough and hard compare to other industries, so it may be difficult for females survive. In particular, when females get married and have children, they need more family oriented working environment.
  • Unlike other industry, those sectors are traditionally male oriented sectors, thus it could take long time to change the current norm.

Simply speaking, Wall Street is Wall Street which means that they care more about performance in terms of generating profit. The amount of monetary costs might be not a big deal for them. But I’m the one who is on the bridge, I wouldn’t push the guy holding the lever to make a choice, because I don’t want to feel guilty by influencing my opinion to the person holding decision making right. I’ll just hope that the guy will sacrifice one for five.
