The Business Culture of Huawei

Abstract

Huawei, as a multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company, is one of the most famous and biggest Chinese companies in the world. It has a unique business culture which contributes to its success. Five aspects of its culture will be mainly discussed in this paper. They are: Quality Policy, Technology, Human Resources, Management System, and Competitiveness Conscious.

Introduction

Huawei was founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei in ShenZhen, China. Its vision is to build a company that becomes an integral part of world’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) ecosystem, and reflects long-term commitment to the world. Huawei prides itself on its customer-centric approach, and strive to provide innovative products and unparalleled services that benefit its customers.(Huawei Group. 2015) We can find the reasons of its success by looking at the specific values that define the culture of Huawei. (David De Cremer and Tian Tao. 2015)

Quality Policy

Why Huawei is doing so well? First of all, Huawei Quality Policy makes it become reliable among customers. It pays much attention to ensure that Customers’ requirements and needs are identified and incorporated into its solutions. It strives to provide a superior service to customers and always keep in mind that the only reason for Huawei existence lies in services provided to customers. Meeting and exceeding customer expectations is vital to its success. Its goal is to continuously improve customers’ satisfaction and experience with Huawei.

Huawei is growing in leaps and bounds, thanks in large part to its top-of-the-line specifications, combined with cheap prices. The products have good quality and cheap price. Take The Mate S as an example: design is impeccable, screen size is better, force touch is introduced rear-facing camera is used, easy access to printing and knuckle touches work is provided. These characters makes Huawei have competitiveness.( Reisinger, 2015)

Technology

By widely absorbing the latest scientific research achievements in the field of electronic information, learning modestly from domestic and foreign outstanding enterprises, Huawei has become one of the best communication technologies companies in the world. It has its own persistent pursuit of creative core technologies and product.

An article reports the world's leading fifth-generation (5G) technology has achieved by Japan's mobile phone operator company NTT Docomo and Chinese telecommunications equipment company Huawei after an outdoor test site in Chengdu, China. They successfully create the world's first large-scale field trial of 5G radio access technologies.(Burkitt-Gray, 2015)

Its goal is to develop high level standard of communication and information technology supporting system independently. Its methods of achieving this goal are various. Firstly, it absorbs the modern civilization of worldwide and all the advantages of the predecessors and competitors. Secondly, it relies on the organization innovation, form an irreplaceable core technical expertise and develop high value-added new products with continuous competitive advantage. Huawei has upgraded its portfolio by adding a solution designed. It lead to have advantages of increasing efficiency and reducing costs for operators of metro networks.(Hedges,2015) Thirdly, it seeks partners to work together on solving some technical problems. For example, China Mobile has partnered with Huawei for the pilot disposition of a cloud-based core network in Xi’an, China. The pilot project will use Huawei’s virtualized IP multimedia subsystem (vIMS). This system is designed to be very useful for verifying cloud-based networking, technical specifications, service capabilities, maintenance and lifecycle management.(Hedges, 2015)
