The Business Policy course requires students to carry out a significant portion of the classwork as part of a team. 10% of the final grade is assigned based on the student’s participation within the group. When completing the peer evaluation, please keep in mind that not all students in the group are going to have identical participation. Students will have different strengths and abilities and the group may choose to divide up the work so that some students participate in some activities, and not in others.

Taking this into consideration, you are asked to evaluate the participation of each group member in the following manner:

Did the student participate in the group meetings for the weekly Capsim decision to the extent expected? If the student participated as expected, assign a grade of 100%. If the participation was less, the percentage assigned will be less. For example, if the individual participated in only half the meetings, without reasonable justification, such as illness, then a 50% grade is reasonable.

Did the student participate in the preparation for the final presentation to the extent expected? If yes, 100% is appropriate. If not, assign the percentage that reflects his or her contribution.

Did the student participate in the preparation of the final written report to the extent expected? Again, please assign the appropriate percentage.

Lastly, effective group participation is most effective when all members are free to contribute, so that if someone dominated the group work , that is a difficulty that should be taken into consideration. Accordingly, if the individual participated as a team member without trying to control all group decisions, assign 100%. If there were difficulties in the group due to the approach taken by the individual, assign a grade less than 100%.
