Measurement of Business Intelligence

Organizations should be able to measure the work and services they provide. This is not always an easy task as many organizations do not know where to start. Many organizations of started outsourcing different goods and services in hopes to cut costs and improve profits. The problem with this is, the company does not necessarily monitor how the outsourcing is doing in regards to the budgets and does not collect data to review. Daphne and Beverly both contributed to their personal experiences with how their current companies record data and if their organization outsources in hopes to reduce costs.

The Discussion

Beverly started the discussion with discussing her work scenarios. Although her company does some outsourcing, most of this is kept within the United States and the outsourcing is used to manage different entities of the processes of the company. Some products are imported and the company has measured the costs of keeping the products in the USA compared to importing the products from other countries such as China. Her organization has seen extreme savings by outsourcing their logistics management and website management.

Daphne stated that her organization does not outsource any goods or services. Instead, her organization is in the process of collecting data that reviews the current budget and processes. They monitor how the money for various departments is being spent and pay close attention to the data collected to see if any adjustments need to be made. Her organization wants to get the most value for the money.

Beverly’s Contribution

Beverly offered some great information and a different view point of measurement than Daphne. Beverly’s organization outsources different goods and services and knows there is a significant cost savings verses keeping these goods and services in house. Beverly is unaware of what type of organization Daphne works for but from her personal experience within her organization, outsourcing makes more sense from a cost stand point.
