There was a situation that I couldn’t forget in my life as an ineffective leader. When I was working in the manager of a Japanese company. Our department was laid off all the staffs and the employers did not provide severance pay for us. At that time I did not know what to do but I had to stand for my right and began file the complaint to accusation my employers at Thailand labor department. Goals was the severance benefit in which the amount of money 3 times of our salary. There was potential that everybody and I could win this case if we could submit the complaint as a team. There were about 30 people unemployed. I wanted to influence my co-workers on the benefit that should be for all us. The result was not what I imagined. From the beginning of the first week that I filed the complaint, I lose my support more than a half. After that for a month I found that there was only me who stand my ground filed complaint ant will probably go to the labor court by myself. I failed to influence everybody to stand for our right, fight for the benefit that we deserved. Establish credibility: As stated in the article that creditability arise from two sources: expertise and relationships. In my case I did not have any credibility while in term of filed complaint and law activity. My background is that I graduated in computer-science and law activity was out of my knowledge, let alone legislation and others complex law, I had no one who I could consult and ask for help either. I was a young manager who lacking of coercive style, which explained in Leadership that Get Results in which this style is appropriate for the urgent situation like this. I was ignore to really try to learn what were the reward that my employee seeking for. As said the source of personal power could have grow from expertise, effective, track record and effort. After review these I noticed that I lack of all of these sources when in come to the term of labor law. In consequence, my co-workers had lost trust and obviously not willing to support me in any case. If I could be able to fix this action, I could really consult with lawyers, which in our government there are lawyers who work to support labor in any case of employers abuse and take advantages. In addition, I even could hire the private lawyers to support us in the court as well.
