Currently the food industry in this video is implementing unethical, unsustainable and very unsafe technologies to producing food for our nation. This production of unhealthy food methods in the end puts at risk human lives and our well-being. Purposely modifying chickens so that they can be fully grown in half the time and also have increased breast meat is an unethical treatment for the animal itself. The chickens are not capable of dealing with such rapid changes in their body size that they suffered and could barely walk a few steps. Not only were the animals treated unethically the employees were also treated similarly. Originally, working in the food industry plants was a great profession with great pensions and benefits but currently that trend has dramatically changed. The industry has brought many workers from Mexico to work in the plants and at the same time works with the immigration officers to deport illegal individuals, but only a few get deported at a time so that it does not dramatically affect the plant operations.

• What ought to be is practicing food handling methods that increase the degree of safety, health, and welfare of the consumers. I remember reading in a news article that talked about how large amounts of stress to the animals while in the process of getting processed can affect the quality of meat. Animals produce certain hormones when they are stressed which can affect the consumers who consume the product. One image that I have in my mind is the image of the cow being picked up and pushed around with a forklift. Even though the animal was going to be processed I think ethically they should treat it in a different method and more ethically, a method of where the animals do not suffer such a horrifying death. The industry also has an ethical responsibility towards the end consumer and what they end up eating from their overall production.
