Ethical Dilemma Paper

The dilemma in this video is they are having too much fun with little thought to the liability. New Zealand is where tourist go and participate in one of the most dangerous and courageous adventures in the world.

We all face danger in our everyday lives and activities that we participate in, and that is like taking your life in your own hands. When people travel to the adventure park and make the decision to leap off a bridge at 135 meters, go sky diving or take a hot air balloon ride, and you make the assumption that the ones that are operating these things are in compliance with all manual guidelines, codes, and regulation, but have enough common sense to know when something is not right.

With the New Zealand Adventure Company you won’t find this true because there have been over fifty individuals within the last eight years that have died due to the negligence of this company. For example, there was a debate between the owner and the supervisor regarding the conditions of the weather and the supervisor advised the owner that it was in his opinion not safe and was afraid to keep the schedule for the hot air balloon ride that held eleven passengers, including the operator of the hot air balloon. The owner refused to stop the scheduled hot air balloon ride and told the supervisor to advise the operator of the hot air balloon to take off as scheduled.

The reason the owner refused to stop the scheduled hot air balloon rides is because he feared of losing the thousands of dollar that would be lost if they didn’t stay on schedule or the ride didn’t take place. After the hot air balloon ride got under way the bad weather came and the hot air balloon was thrown into a power line and everyone was killed. This would not have happened if the owner would have stayed in compliance with the rules and regulations.
