English is a component that helps the employees to achieve higher productivity in the workplace, and many of the experts also agree with this statement, according to Mao (2013), in her point of view indicates that English language is able to convey his or her thoughts to their co-workers, boss, as well as clients, hence, one person will easily influence other if his/her can express ideas and concepts as well as moods, feelings and attitudes effectively (Azizul, 2005). There are several aspects that can determine an employee’s productivity in the workplace, including speaking and writing abilities.

Firstly, a better communicate skills in English is able to help a person to convey his or her thoughts to the other person and lead to higher productivity. It does not matter which position the employee is in, the English proficiency is always an important tool to communicate well in the workplace. For instance, an employee from customer service department must be able to handle complaints, inquiries from its customer by using strong English. If the employee does not have a strong English, he or she could not communicate in a proper way and convey thoughts to its customers, hence, it will result in dissatisfactory customer services. According to JobStreet (2009), a majority of 95% of employers agreed that the strong English would improve the productivity of the employees in the workplace

In addition, a better communicate skills is also important for meeting sessions in the company. Meetings are important part of doing business, especially multinational and global companies, they consist of different nationalities and backgrounds. And since each of them may specialize in specific language due to the geographical issues, however, English is the only common language they can use to communicate effectively with others.
