Terms of Reference

The purpose of this report is too look at a certain business as a whole using certain analytical theories, which include, SWOT Analysis, PESTLE Analysis, a Stakeholder Mapping Matrix, Porters Generic Strategies Model, Porter’s Five Forces Model, Ansoff’s Matrix, these theories will look at their strengths and weaknesses, their opportunities and their threats. They will also show how the business is affected by political factors, economic factors, labour market trends, technology, legal factors and environmental factors. They will show how stakeholders affect the business, what competitive strategy they have adopted, as well as looking at their positioning in their current market.

This business report will be looking at Apple Inc.

Apple Inc. operates in the Computer Hardware Industry, reaching a net income of £22,484,900,000, Apple was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak and was incorporated on January 3rd 1977.

Apple Inc. operates in the Private sector; according to, the private sector is where “Organisations owned and controlled by private individuals and organisations”. “They design, manufacture and market mobile communication and media devices, personal computers, and portable digital music players, and sell a variety of related software, services, peripherals, networking solutions, and third-party digital content and applications”, according to (Market.ft. 2014)


The information needed in order to write this report will be taken from text books, journals and websites as well as lecture notes, all theories used, will be referenced appropriately in the text.

According to (L.J.Mullins, p545, 2010), SWOT analysis is, the study of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats facing an organisation that may provide a basis for decision making and problem solving.
