Charles & Keith is a popular Singapore brand known for women's footwear and accessories. Established in 1996 by brothers Charles and Keith Wong. It was the mid 1990s and the Wong brothers were running an ordinary women's shoe store in Singapore. Following in the footsteps of their parents, who had a shoe store in Ang Mo Kio where the brothers used to work at. In the year 1996, Charles Wong decided that he was ready to venture out on his own into the shoe business. This was because as a kid, he had already begun learning the shoe trade even before he could tie his own shoes properly. So using the savings that he had, Charles Wong opened a shop in the business district in Amara Hotel and begun running the shop with the help of his younger brother Keith Wong, who at that time was serving his national service. In 1998, Keith Wong joined the company full time after completing his national service. The youngest brother, Kenneth Wong, joined the company recently after completing his studies in the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the only one in the family who is a graduate. Today, Charles & Keith is an international brand with over 170 franchises worldwide and is also the parent company of Pedro. The company has received several awards, such as the Excellent Service Award in 2002 and The Enterprise Awards at The Singapore Business Awards in 2008.
