Summary

        Brett sends a card from San Sebastian and Jake does not see her. Cohn left Paris. Frances left for England. Jake meets his friend from America, Bill Gorton. They talk about Bill’s trip in Budapest and Vienna. Bill talks about a prize-fight and uses the n word. Bill talks about stuffed animals. They decide to eat and when they are looking for a restaurant, they meet Brett. Brett is back from San Sebastian. The three people go for a drink. Brett leaves to meet Mike. When Bill and Jake meet Mike later, he is drunk and keeps on saying that Brett is beautiful and that he wants to go to the hotel early. Bill mentions a fight and Jake decides to go with him.

        Cohn sends a message to Jake saying he wants to go to the fishing trip that Jake and Bill were planning to go on. Mike wants to join, too. Brett also wants to go but she doesn’t want to fish. Brett tells Jake that she was in San Sebastian with Cohn and worries that it might be rough on Cohn because she’s dating Mike. Jake is annoyed and Brett sends Cohn a message asking if he still wants to go. Cohn wants to go and this surprises Jake and Brett. Jake and Bill are on a train and they meet Catholic people. They chat with a Catholic family. Then they meet Cohn. Cohn tells Bill that he read his books.
