The roles between Elizabeth Proctor and Abigail Williams play in The Crucible are very different from each other. Elizabeth and Abigail really have nothing in common. They have so many different qualities that make them. The only thing they have in common is the love for John Proctor.

Elizabeth Proctor is married to John Proctor and the mother of his two sons. Elizabeth is the stay at home mother type. She stays home and tends to the house and the kids. Elizabeth fired Abigail when she discovered that her husband was having an affair with Abigail. Elizabeth is really upright good person. But she is cold with the thought about her husband and Abigail. Despite the fact John committed adultery she still stands by her husband even though she is not happy with it.

Abigail Williams is one of the main characters; she is an orphan but lives with her uncle Parris and her cousin Betty. Abigail is a constant liar and a manipulator. She manipulated her own friends and the entire town. Abigail’s motivations never seem more intense than simple hatred and a craving to have revenge against Elizabeth. Since Abigail was shown she had power she took full advantage of it. Knowing that she accussed nineteen innocent people of devil worshiping which led them to their deaths.

Elizabeth and Abigail only common interest is John Proctor. Elizabeth got rid of Abigail because she loves John with all her heart. She obviously wanted to save what was left of her marriage between her and John because in the end she wanted to lie for him but it didnt work out. Abigail thinks she has fallen in love with John Proctor and also thinks he fells the same but he doesnt. She is said to be known a Jezebel figure. She has a lust and this sexual desire to have John for herself.
