To My Dear and Loving Husband by Anne Bradstreet is a poem about eternal love. From the beginning it is clear, that the narrator is deeply in love with her husband. Hence the way she describes the strength of their love. Undoubtedly their love will last long after they pass away. This shows that their love will never end.

I relate to this poem because I have been with my husband for half of my life. He is my best friend and I don't know who I would be with out him. Bradstreet says “I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold or all the riches that the East doth hold. My love is such that rivers cannot quench, nor ought but love from thee, give recompense (Bradstreet, 1678).” The way Anne Bradstreet’s love for her husband and his love for her is so deep that it is almost impossible to describe how much they love each other.

To My Dear and Loving Husband is about finding the one. When you have a love like this it can be overwhelming and hard to find the right words to describe the love you have. The poem is about a powerful love between a husband and wife that is hard to put into words just how much you love each other. Bradstreet believes she loves her husband more than anyone could love someone. If you’re lucky enough to meet your one true love then I believe this is exactly how it should feel.
