Topic Proposal

Abortion has been an ongoing conflict since the beginning of the 1800s. Talking about whether or not abortion should be legal is usually an extremely touchy subject and it becomes very intense. One party argues that abortion is similar to murder and it is equivalent to taking an innocent person’s life before they even began living. Some even bring up religion when defending their opinion by saying that abortion goes against God. It is believed that humans are all “God’s gift” and we are all put on Earth for a reason. Who says that we have the right to take away someone’s life because it does not work out with his or hers? In addition, abortion has major health effects and could prevent a woman from being able to become pregnant again. On the other hand, others would say that women should have their own opinion on what they do with their baby and body. Since the woman is carrying the baby, she should have the most say in what happens to her own body. Also, the baby’s life depends on the mother’s health so if a woman is not taking care of her body, then the baby should be aborted in order for it to avoid suffering throughout its entire life. Money is also an issue because if a woman cannot financially support a baby, then that would also cause suffering for both her and her child.

There are five different ways to abort a baby including medical abortions, vacuum aspiration and dilation and curettage, dilation and evacuation, and induction abortion methods can be used. Roe vs. Wade is the reason that abortion is even thought to be legal. Before this case, abortion was illegal in every single state. As of right now, abortion is only legal in certain states due to state laws. Abortion, in my opinion, is an awesome topic to write an entire essay on because every single person in this world has had this controversial conversation at some point in his or her life. Depending on a person’s opinion on this matter, says a lot about you and also has a part in what political party you are sided with which is also important. There are also a countless amount of different arguments that have been said about this topic whether it is pro-life or pro-choice. There is an endless amount of research and arguments about this matter that some people are not informed of and should be.
