The technological advancements make it possible for people to share information and the progress of their lives with others who are either known to them or strangers. The invention of the social networking sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and many others have enhanced social interactions among different groups of people in the society. However, these interactions come with serious concerns about how the users can protect their privacy in the ever-changing technological world. Therefore, there are various measures which can be adopted by people to ensure that they are safe.

The first measures to ensure that personal information and as well as the privacy is maintained relates to handling of passwords. In most cases, the social interaction sites will ask users to set up a password to protect their private data. It is therefore advisable to set up a strong password that comprises different characters such as a combination of words and letters (Jones, 2016). This step aims to prevent other people from guessing the password which they might use to access the private information in the social interactions sites. Also, Jones (2016) outline that people should avoid using the same password for the various social interactions sites which makes it easy for a second party to guess and use it to access the same sites. Again, it is advisable for people to stop sharing their passwords with either close friends or strangers since such people might have sinister motives.

The process of protecting the personal privacy also requires a person to be cautious with the type and amount of information that they share with the online community (Wu, 2016). The current tech-savvy generation likes sharing pictures, messages and even their location over the internet. However, this information should only be given to the right trustable people who might expose a social interactions site user to the dangers posed by strangers (Windel, 2016). Further, it is advisable that a person should only provide necessary information when registering to be a social interactions sites user as such goes a long way in providing the fundamental privacy.
