Introduction

Apple iTunes is a digital media platform developed by Apple Inc., they released iTunes 1.0 January 9, 2001. On April 28, 2003 they started the iTunes Music Store. This online music store allows customers to search, purchase and download music for a price without having to pay an additional subscription fee (Apple.com, 2003). The company focuses on customers that purchase Apple mobile devices and personal computers. They have increased from 200,000 songs to having a catalog of over 12 million songs. (Apple.com, 2010). Today the iTunes store is an online database where users are can access music, videos, movies, TV shows, radio and other entertainment forms as well as educational material at a fee. The video content watched or downloaded from the store were in excess of sixty billion clips as of 2013 and the iTunes music store sold a record 13 billion songs world-wide.

Entities and Attributes

Customers of the iTunes Store must download software on their devices to allow them a link to the online store services. Once the customer has opened the iTunes App on the device, the customer can connect to the store using the Internet. Apple users are required to register so they can acquire an Apple id which is used for purchases and updates. Once in the iTunes Store, the customer has access to options that are available including; music, movies, TV Shows, App Store, Podcasts, Music Videos and Audiobooks (Apple.com, 2014). The customer is then able to view the content they want to see.

In order to make the iTunes customers experience enjoyable the customer may want to organize and choose what they want to listen to or watch. If the customer does not organize they could get frustrated having to search for what they want. With the iTunes store business being online, customers are going to want to make their search as simple as they can. This is where the customer may want to choose a specific music genre, because iTunes will then suggest songs of that nature to the customer. Apple, Inc. is also an online only business and do not want to lose nor can afford to lose customers due to having a difficult site to navigate.
