The Advertisement is use in public media to promote a product, service, or an event. For advertisement analysis, I decided to choose the commercial “L’Oreal Skin Expert/ Paris”. This commercial promotes a product call Hydra-nutrition Age perfect. Staring the Actress Susan Sarandon as the face of the brand. What is amazing about this commercial is she uses humor about age and put her personal touch in the commercial. The product is intended to be for woman over 50 years old. She explains how age is just a number and how much is worth for a woman to take care of herself no matter what age. I found the commercial so appealing, fresh, and empowering. Advertisement companies usually use several persuasive appeals technique to promote their products.

During this commercial, they use very few techniques to appeal the audience. First the use a Celebrity spoke person to endorse the product. She gives a perfect touch for the commercial with a very realistic performance. Second Humor, this technique was most effective one in my opinion. She uses humor to describe age and how a woman should feel about aging. Last techniques is individuality, appeal to consumers desire to be different. L’Oreal uses these techniques very effectively, specially for their target audience. A combination of these three techniques gives a subtle, fun, and powerful message to the audience. After watching the commercial, I wanted to know more about the product. The commercial is memorable, convincing, and exciting. The actress choice was perfect, she is a perfect model of individuality and the targeted audience can relate to her. I believe the techniques chosen for this commercial are very effective and were choose because to appeal their target audience. For example when watching an anti aging cream commercial, we want someone that the audience can relate to her. Also when speaking about age in the commercial with humor but being subtle can make the audience feel comfortable with product and brand. This commercial totally motivates the middle age woman to know more about the product.
