P1, describe key aspects of public health strategies.

Public health is in place to promote and protect the health and well being of those living in the community in order for this proccess to work public heslth bodies or organisraions have to monitor the health states of the public and they then have to know and undterstand the link betwen the illhealth and the cause/prevention to the ill health.In fact by doing this we are effectivily helping to stop any illness breaking out and causing an extreme epidemic, something that we dont want as a union. The public health service must additionally monitor the communities working conditions and find out what they can do to improve them if they are not adequate enough for the community. They must also work on improving and maintaining a variety of different areas such as; education, housing, employment and individual lifestyles.

One of the many public health strategies used is called the social marketing approach. The social marketing approach heavily concentrates on developing and activities aimed at changing or maintaining an individual's behaviour for the benefit of not only themselves, but for the benefit for society and their community.This approach helps decide things such as; what haviour should be influenced, how to go about this and how to assess it. This is all done by the use of commercial marketing and social science, this is due to evidence proving social marketing to be extremely effective when looking at trying to influence a person's behaviour in a sustainable and financially efficient manner without too much strain on the individual. This approach combines six steps including; getting started, scope,develop,implement,evaluate and follow up. The goal when looking at behaviour within social marketing is to always try to change or maintain how that individual behaves. If your goal however is to only increase the awareness and knowledge of the individual then the social marketing approach is not being practiced.
