This article studies reading comprehension difficulties of adolescent students with ADHD.  The findings show that impairments to working memory and processing speed of adolescents with ADHD can increase reading difficulties.  Test scores from the Nelson-Denny Reading test conclude  index scores for verbal comprehension abilities were in the high average range, but working memory and processing speed index scores were weaker.  Studies determined relationships in regard to reading comprehension is not so much verbal abilities or weak basic reading skills, because longer test times for reading helped the adolescents score significantly higher scores than what they scored with standard times.  When allowed extended time, 77.9% were able to score within 1 Standard Deviation  of their Verbal Comprehension index.

This article studies the connection of Attention Deficit Disorders and Sleep/Arousal Disturbance in adolescents.  These problems may be due to a variety of things, including environment and lifestyle factors like:  Difficulty in getting to sleep due to anxiety, depression or just simply unwillingness to fall asleep even when extremely exhausted.  Research suggest difficulties awakening and difficulties maintaining alertness is eventually triggered from the lack of sleep the night before.  Treatments include but not limited to creating routines before bed like warm baths and reading for children.  It is important to be aware that the lack of sleep due to ADD closely resembles other disorders like narcolepsy so seeking treatment advice from a Healthcare Provider is encouraged.

This article discussed the world-wide prevalence of ADHD and the persistence of the disorder through adolescence into adult years.   Research shows that individual with ADHD have a comorbid disorder including: Oppositional, conduct and anxiety disorders.  Additionally, ADHD carries with it significant impairment in academic, occupational, social, and intrapersonal domains necessitating treatment.  The article suggest that ADHD is carefully diagnosed by using the history of the disorder.  The article also discuss the management of ADHD, and concludes that psychosocial interventions such as educational remediation, structure/routine, and cognitive-behavioral approaches help treat the disorder with great results.
