Introduction

Ted Bundy is an American serial killer, rapist, kidnapper and necrophilia who assaulted and murder over 30 woman and girls during the 1970’s. (Wiki, Para. 1) On January 24, 989, Bundy was put to death by the electric chair at the Florida State Prison. Serial killer Ted Bundy, interests me in particular because he was not the stereotypical murderer people would think of regarding his physical traits and education life. Bundy was an unexpected murderer.

Biography/Background

Ted Bundy was born on November 24, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont in a home for unwed mothers. Bundy started his life as his mothers, Eleanor Cowell, secret shame. Bundy was raised in Philadelphia, and was believed to be the adopted son of his grandparents. He was also told that his mother, Eleanor, was his sister. Ted and his mother, Eleanor, moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1951 where she married Johnie Bundy and had several children together. While Bundy was a student at the University of Washington, he fell in love with a wealthy, pretty young woman from California. He and was devastated by their breakup. Following, he graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in psychology. In 1974, Bundy moved to Utah to attend law school, where woman began to mysteriously disappear. (Bio, Para. 1-7)

Personality:

At the age of 3, Bundy showed an unusual interest and became fascinated by knives. As a teenager, a dark side started to show of him. He liked to peer into others people’s windows and steal things. As a child, Ted was shy but intelligent and did well in school but not with his classmates. In 1974, around his murderous rampage, sources say he became more outwardly confident and active in social and political matters. (Bio, Para. 3, 5) His young female victims regarded Bundy as handsome and charismatic. Traits he exploited to win over the trust of his female victims. (Wiki, Para. 2)

Crimes

Ted Bundy, an American serial killer, rapist, kidnapper and necrophilia. He assaulted over 30 woman and girls during the 1970’s. He would typically kidnap or approach the women in public places, by luring them into his car by various forms of deception, such as faking an injuring. Their kindness proved to be a fatal mistake. (Wiki, Para. 2) After, he would rape, bludgeon, strangle or beat them to death, then dispose of the bodies. All of his victims had similar characteristics in common; attractive young women with long hair parted in the middle that resembled his ex-girlfriend. Most were college students. (Bio, Para. 3) He sexually assaulted and killed several young women in Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Utah and Florida between 1974 and 1978. He confessed to 30 murders, although, some believe that he was responsible for hundreds of deaths. (Jenkins, Para. 2) For example, a typical murder of his was on October 31, 1974 in Utah, 17-year-old Laura Aime was raped, beaten and strangled to death. Her body was found nearly a month later by hikers on the banks of a river in American Fork Canyon. (Murderpedia, Para. 30)
