This picture is an example of the symbiosis known as parasitism. Why? Because parasitism is the relationship between two organisms in which one is harmed, but the other is benefiting. Clearly, the snake is the predator in this scene, and the frog is unfortunately the prey. A predator is the organism in parasitism that hunts, and the prey would be the hunted.

The above picture is an example of commensalism. This is because in commensalism, one of the organisms is benefiting from the relationship, but is not harming the other organism. The Owl is using the inside of a tree for shelter. The tree however, is not being harmed by the Owl living in it.

Why is this picture an example of mutualism? Because the smaller sea animals are getting rid of the parasites in the fish’s teeth. This gives the smaller sea animals food, and benefits the fish by relieving it of its parasites. Mutualism is a relationship in which both organisms benefit from.

Hypothesis

In our experiment, we expect to find that when you place an object in a refrigerator, the density of the object will increase. We think this, because when liquid gets colder, the molecules get closer together, causing the liquid to become more dense. Another reason we think this is because when you boil a liquid, like water, it becomes a gas. Therefore, since a gas’s molecules are far apart from each other, it is less dense, which means the opposite will happen when liquid is in a refrigerator. This is what we have predicted will happen during our experiment.
