Performance objective:

Historical Live Museum; the American Revolution Comes To Life!

• Choose an individual from the American Revolution time period.

• Research the individual for important facts regarding his or her involvement with the American Revolution.

• Create a brief biography of the individual and his or her involvement in the American Revolution.

• Using the biography the student will participate in a ‘live museum,” with their peers, by bringing their character “to life.” (Students will have the liberty of using appropriate props and or dress to enhance their performance; this will not be mandatory for a grade).

Using historical events and data these standards will show the student how to become an effective reader and use a variety of strategies in order to make sense of key details and ideas presented in text presented with historical value. After reading an account of a historical event the student will be able to create a sequence chart with diagrams or pictures to show how a sequence of events occurred and what the outcome of these events was. The student will be able to show that a series of events occurred which in effect caused the American Revolution. By asking himself or herself “what happened to cause the next event?” the student will be able to create an accurate account of these historical events.

The student will be expected to write over extended time frames utilizing their time for research, reflection, and revision of the historical events they have studied. Through their research the student will be expected to validate the information their research has uncovered and show the reliability of that information.
