he Origin of Tragedy

The book Macbeth is one of the most famous plays of Shakespeare's. The book is much shorter than the other three tragedies, but it is quite a masterpiece. In Macbeth, author tells about a big hero eventually become a bad king who is willing to do everything aiming for keeping his position stably. The play reflects a fact that if people are hunger for power and they will finally blind with power, which is the weakness of human nature. Some people say that it is the fate that Macbeth has no choices so he has to surrender to the fate, while the others point out that it is his weak characteristics that drives him from a good man into a wholly evil.

At the very beginning, Macbeth is a hero who has a high standard of morality. However, this value of morality is faced with huge challenges in the later play, thus Macbeth is tortured severely. He must know that it's forbidden by morality to kill King Duncan, but he cannot control himself. All those things are originally from three strange witches. In the first several Acts, the three witches who seem to know everything about Macbeth appear in front of Macbeth, Predicting Macbeth's future fate that he will be the king and rule the entire country. We definitely believe that the prophecies of the three witches greatly influence Macbeth, but as a hero, Macbeth has an inherent ambition, as Lady Macbeth says in Act1 Scene 5.

Glamis thou art, and Cawdor; and shalt be

What thou art promised: yet do I fear thy nature;

It is too full o' the milk of human kindness

To catch the nearest way: thou wouldst be great;

Art not without ambition, but without

The illness should attend it: what thou wouldst highly,

That wouldst thou holily; wouldst not play false,

And yet wouldst wrongly win: thou'ldst have, great Glamis,

That which cries 'Thus thou must do, if thou have it;

And that which rather thou dost fear to do

Than wishest should be undone.

At first, Macbeth is a big hero of his country, he fights for country and get some great accomplishments. There is no doubt that Macbeth can become the king of his country by fighting for his country and serving his people, not killing King Duncan. The three witches predict Macbeth will become the king in the future but didn't tell him how to become the king. It's all Macbeth's choices. More ridiculously, afterwards, those witches deceive Macbeth by predicting several subtle prophecies.
