Child Soldiers

“They fight like solders, they die like children.” This quote is the name of famous writer Romeo Dallaire’s book and it explains the significance of being soldier for children. Over the past twenty years, more children have been precisely influenced by armed clash than ever before. The statistics of Los Angeles Times shows that in past conflicts, up to 90% of all casualties consisted of adult soldiers; however, today over 80% of the sacrifices are women and children. As indicated by the numbers of UNICEF, more than 500000 children are drawn in armed warfare, 300000 of them are serving as soldiers at any given time. It is easier to manipulate and force children in order to participate in the army. Children soldiers can confront several problems, such as psychological physical and which might be solved with specific methods.

        Children living in strife zones are enlisted for various reasons. For example, they are easy marks because of their psychological raucousness. Moreover, due to their lack of freedom, children are not prepared for making abreast choices; subsequently, they can be effortlessly included by their counterparts. Additionally, in this case, children confront a few troubles and they influence their life. One serious issue that children face following their inclusion in armed conflict is emotional trauma. Children who have been casualties of war are regularly ready to recover a considerable level of mental health. Nevertheless, the individuals who have served as soldiers and have been executioner of viciousness find it harder to recover and to rehabilitate their mental quality. For instance, after having one month camp in Tailand, a fifteen year old kid started listening to two weird voices that were quarreling inside his head. This example shows the negative effects of child soldiers.

The primary solution of psychological problems among children is education. Some schools encourage all children to feel physically, socially, emotionally, and scholastically protected. Children's traumatic reactions, and the related troubles they can confront at school, are frequently established in genuine or perceived hazards to their safety that undermine a feeling of prosperity in essential ways. Therefore, the initial phase in helping students succeed in school, inspite of their traumatic experiences, is to help them feel safe in the classroom, on the play area, in the passage, in the cafeteria, on the transport, in the gym hall, on the walk to and from school. This involves physical safety as well as social and emotional wellbeing, and the feeling of academic safety required in order to take risks to propel one's learning in the classroom. Another solution of emotional issue is Trauma Systems Therapy. This program should be designed by government. For example, American government made this type of program to see the necessities of Boston’s inward city youth aged 6­18 years old. The system based on the basis of traumatic anxiety results is manualized and planned both to help children control feelings and make environment steadier. Children may get home-based services, legal advocacy, office-based psychotherapy, and psychotropic prescriptions in this project.
