After reading WTO Shrimp and Turtle case, there are many things people should started thinking and problems that should be discussed further than just what the readings have to offer. One, why are the TED’s necessary for more than just the US? And two, yes the reading stat that the United States was being discriminatory towards the Asian countries but why where the discriminatory? This case has a lot of information that goes past just catching shrimp. The worlds discrimination toward each other is becoming more relevant and being fixed.

Unknown to many, sea turtles are a huge factor to the ecosystem and if lost can eventually affect humans. This is why TED’s (turtle excluder devices) are very important. “Sea turtles are part of two ecosystems, the beach/dune system and the marine system. If sea turtles went extinct, both the marine and beach/dune ecosystems would be negatively affected. And since humans utilize the marine ecosystem as a natural resource for food and since humans utilize the beach/dune system for a wide variety of activities, a negative impact to these ecosystems would negatively affect humans” (Sea Turtle Conservation). Sea turtles are a small part of the world’s population but play a big roll in the ecosystem.

Sea Turtles are essentially the cows of the sea. They swim and eat the sea grass, like mowing it down, to maintain the health of the sea grass and allow for sea life to live and provide breeding areas for other sea animals (Sea Turtle Conservation). Beaches and Sand dunes receive nutrition from sea turtles laying their eggs. Not all sea turtles make it to the sea making this a way sand receives nutrition along with the eggshells left behind (Sea Turtle Conservation).

There is one thing that is very different between the Caribbean countries and the four Asian countries in this case. Money. Like we have learned in previous classes, money is a language on its own.
