What is bottlenecking? According to Chase, Jacobs, & Aquilano (2006), it is defined as any source whose capacity is less than the demand placed upon it. Meaning the main purpose for bottlenecking is to improve a workflow process that will avoid wasting time driving to work. Therefore, Monica will have to analyze the situation and come up with a new process, which determine the flow of the process and how it affects the performance of driving to work each day and prepare for a better outcome. This paper will show in detail and discuss the main bottleneck of the Monica's drive to work routine process. Analyzing the process will allow one to determine, which steps of this process can be improved to make the entire process run more efficiently and improve time. By improving the drive time to work, Monica hopes to improve a better route to work and reduce the time spent on such things that are a waste in the process, which is time, and traffic.

Bottlenecks in a Process Paper

Main Bottleneck in a Process

A bottleneck is the activity in a process that limits the capacity of the process (Chase, Jacobs, & Aquilano 2006). Because I used a flowchart of constraints can help identify the bottlenecks in the process. This will assist me to improve this process. The main bottleneck in my flowchart can be improved starting with my car, by making sure there is gas in the car each night or fill the car up at the beginning of the week. On average, the Monica spends an extra 10-15 minutes getting gas on certain days. Also leaving at an earlier time will help to improve this process when concerning weather, which is beyond my control. There are two bottlenecks in this process, getting gas in the morning and not leaving early when there is bad weather. This would be a reduction in setup times, where the resource capacity is less than the demand placed on it (Chase, Jacobs, & Aquilano
