Sacombank Dong Do

1. Rationale

Overcome a lot of challenges in 2010, Vietnam has achieved positive results. Macroeconomic is stabile, GDP growth by 6.78% ODA commitment is more than $ 8 billion, registered capital of foreign direct investment (FDI) is about $ 20 billion, total exports and imports is $ 71.6 billion and $ 84 billion. In the context of global economic recession, the economy of Vietnam which has positive results affects importantly for developing stable and sustainable in future. In the consequences, commercial banks play a crucial role for the development of the economy.

Along with strong efforts of the banking sector, Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank For Industry And Trade (VietinBank), which has total authorized capital lead in blocks of joint stock commercial banks in Vietnam, has made positively policies of the Government and the State Bank of Vietnam, completely supports to the economy, to help for a stable business development, reached and exceeded planned targets in 2010.

Hence, working at Vietinbank, North Hanoi branch as an intern is a wonferful opportunities for me, which brings to me a chance to face to banking situations in reality and built a general outlook about commercial banks in Vietnam.

However, after a long time practicing at there, I found that although the credit risk management has been implemented seriously, the achieved result is not be as expected, the large number of overdue debts, bad debts still remains unchanged annually. That is the reason why my thesis: "Solutions to enhance the credit risk management in Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade, North Hanoi branch" is chosen to study. The structure of my report about the intern in Vietinbank contains of 3 parts:

Chapter 3: Solutions to enhance the credit risk management in Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade, North Hanoi branch

In this thesis, I would like to review information systematically on development, history, structure and organization, summarize and analyze the business situation of Vietinbank for recent years, and put forward a number of suggestions to limit credit risks at Vietinbank.

Because of time, knowledge and experience limitation, this report might be unperfected. Hence, any comments and ideas are warmly welcome. All contributions are so valuable and will support me to make a better report next time.

2. Research question

This study will aim at answering three questions:
