1.0 Introduction and Selection of Business

As one of developing city in Malaysia, Kuching is far behind in terms of development for public transport. Currently with the fast developing city and the rise of many shopping centres, education institutions, business centres as well as tourist attractions, it is essential to have an efficient comfortable, reliable and accessible public transportation.

Kuching City Transportation (KCT) is a new and upcoming profitable organization providing a whole new public transportation services in the city. The purpose of this proposal is to provide information that we foresee as the opportunities for public transport to accommodate the need of the communities. Lim et al. (2011, p.5) stated that “An efficient transport system with modern infrastructures can impact many positive economic changes”.

Public transportation is essential for households without their own vehicles and is also an important fundamental to tourism and leisure, as well as to travel from one point to another. Our main target consumer are lower incomes group, students, tourists as well as those who could not drive by themselves, such as elderly or disabled people. Furthermore, as we will be providing transportation for tourists as well, we would collaborate with the Tourism Ministry to further improve our state’s tourism industry.

However, as a profitable organisation, we do have to charge our customers in order to generate profit for the organisation. But, we only charge minimum and reasonable price for each transportation services to make sure that all the people can afford to use our public transport.

• Specially cater to students (Primary, secondary, college and university students)

• Specially cater to locals’ transportation needs

3. Explorer Bus

• Cheap travel transportation for tourists

4. Travel Bus

• Long distance travel bus for locals and tourists

• Purpose of Setting up the organisation:

1. To bring in more tourists and foreigners from countries abroad.
