MEGATECH INTERNATIONAL, INC.

CURRENT STRATEGIC PROFILE

There two significant companies in this case study: The Megatech International

Inc. and Cytel Philippines. Megatech Internationa Inc. is a firm of consulting and project

management engineers affiliated with Australian-based group of companies. Megatech

provided engineering design and construction management services to local industrial

and government clients. On the other hand, Cytel Philippines was a multinational

company operating manufacturing facilities for semi-conductors and other computer

components in the province of Cavite. The products were produced for international

distribution. The company’s philosophy of performance demanded the high standard of

complete and comprehensive engineering, design, procurement, materials, and

construction management for all of its engineering projects.

In this case study, Megatech International Inc. has the greater responsibility and

was put in bad light in the middle of the project construction as narrated in the case study.

It was also Megatech who made the design for Cytel warehouse project which means

that the other actions or activities regarding the project are based on Megatech’s design.

Megatech has 86 people in 1997 which means that they expanded as a result of

more projects offered to them. The number of people in their company is very ideal; this

can handle projects like what Cytel had with them. As an engineering service company,

as stated in the case study, Megatech did not involve in actual construction itself but

rather acted for and in behalf of the owner doing the engineering designs for its plant

facilities, bidding out various working contracts and sub-contracts of the projects. In a

typical project, Megatech International was usually expected to design facilities of the

industrial plant covering its architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other
