Executive Summary

At this juncture, I would like to report the analysis of the reality of managerial and organisational decision-making. The purpose of the report is to provide one with the opportunity to review and analyse the relevance of decision-making models to organisational decision-making using Melia Kuala Lumpur hotel as a case study and generate the solution, then evaluate the alternative solutions, provide suitable recommendations for implementations and to suggest improvements. Obstacles encountered will and ways to overcome.

1.0 Introduction

This study refers to and converses the reality of managerial and organisational decision-making. Albeit most of the examination and instances associate to corporate organization, the concerns are pertinent to the individual professionals, too. The prerequisite for all professionals to be overtly responsible in showcasing clear decisions and decision-making prepares the context of various decision making models discussed and compared to benefit the organization decision making per se Beinstock (1984).

Various decision making models such as normative, prescriptive and descriptive models are associated to distinguishing methodical and experimental procedures (and evidence sources) to aid decisions. Benner's ‘novice to expert' framework model of expertise is reviewed and a matrix framework, originated from a study of longitudinal phenomenological organization's decision making advancement quest, receiving and using competent decision-making skills, is offered. Introspective initiatives offer those reading to associate the matrix frameworks to their experience and viewpoints of competent decision-making towards organization success as per McKim (1980).

2.0 Overview of Decision-making

Decision making is not particularly retained for company administration or management; is undertaken everyday by all concerned. From selecting house furniture to household outside family dinner planning, decision making is a component of everyone's everyday practice.
