Labor Management Relations

Red Cross has an effective response to new or emerging crises. Their long goal is the need to help build the resilience and coping mechanisms of people affected by long-term crises and extended conflict. Red Cross has a vital HR department as flexibility is essential, as well as the ability to deploy sometimes highly specialized experts in particular fields such as psychosocial support, forensic science and the management of human remains, and even nuclear and radiological science. The capacities and mobility of the Red Cross’ human resources refers to the organization’s values, policies and methods for managing its staff. It also refers to the willingness and readiness of staff members to serve better the company and people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. The organization and processes pertaining to the structure of the Red Cross and its decision making, working, and information management processes are very important and transparent. It includes the management models, structures, procedures and rules that govern the work of its staff and contribute to the company’s reputation as a professional, effective and efficient organization for helping people in crisis. Verizon has a more complicated labor management relations than Red Cross. One example is the case where "CWA leaders repeatedly portrayed their walkout as a decisive point in labor-management relations in the country. A private-sector version of Wisconsin's public-sector labor battle, they said. That's why so many were surprised when they ended the strike without any of Verizon's big concession demands off the table: the freezing of pensions, reductions of holidays, increased health care premiums, unlimited contracting out of work.
