What are Employment Contracts?

When someone accepts a job offer from the employer (could be oral or written), the employee signs the employment contracts with the employer to avoid disputes at a later date. The contract determines the terms & conditions in the contract that the employer & the employee have to abide till the employee leaves or as stated in the contract.

What are terms in an employment contract?

As you know now that Employment contracts are contracts that are made between the employer & the employee on terms & conditions on employment you also need to know that the contract may include information on employment rules, the rights, responsibilities these could be called as the terms in the contract.

What are conditions in an employment contract?

The conditions in the contract could be stated as in the countries legal system or any other conditions as stated in the contract by the employer as what would be the daily hours at work etc.

Types of Employment Contracts

  • Agency workers contracts:

The agency workers contract is completely different from the other contracts, in this type of contract the employer (first party), worker (second party) who signs the contract has to work with third party (client of the first party) that the first party has assigned the worker to work with.

  • Fixed term contracts:

These kinds of contracts that are made with employee from employers on fixed term basis e.g. it starts from a specified time, or ends at a specified time or when the specified goals are met, it also has fixed time of work etc.

  • Part time & full time work contract:

Part time work contract allows employees to work only some hours instead of full time work during the working hours, where as a full time working hours are the full working hours that are assigned by the employer in the contract.

 

  • Home or tele-working contract:

This type of contract is signed between the employer & the employee in this type of contract, the employee is allowed to work in a place which is not supposed to be operated by the employer, this place is usually the employee own home which is the most suitable for the employee, even though the place is not in the employers control but the employee is supposed to carry out the regular duties that are assigned by the employer.
